Congratulations to JLM Executive Committee member Luciana Berger, who was selected yesterday as the Labour and Co-operative parties’ candidate for the seat of Liverpool Wavertree at the General Election.

Luciana, director of Labour Friends Of Israel, beat Liverpool councillor Wendy Simon and Joyce Still by a margin of around 2-1 to win the candidacy for the Wavertree seat from an all-women shortlist, according the Liverpool Echo.

The selection was sparked after former minister Jane Kennedy announced in November last year she would stand down at the coming general election after representing the constituency since 1992.

Luciana, who has been involved with JLM for a number of years said she was “absolutely delighted” to have been selected.  You can follow her on Twitter at @lucianaberger
